MESRAP Checklist for AIFMD-light Managers

Many AIFMD-light managers assume that MESRAP does not apply to them, especially if they have never received a DNB reporting request before.

That assumption is no longer safe. AFM registration and DNB statistical reporting are separate processes. A fund may be correctly registered with the AFM, while still needing to be assessed for DNB statistical reporting.

The KRIF MESRAP Checklist helps AIFMD-light managers prepare for DNB registration, quarterly reporting, data collection and submission through Mijn DNB / Dienst Rapportages.

What’s Inside the Checklist?

Use the checklist to prepare your fund-level MESRAP reporting process before the deadline.

- DNB registration check
Assess whether each fund should be registered with DNB for MESRAP or a related statistical reporting obligation.

- Reporting profile review
Understand how profiles such as IFM, IFQ and IFSB fit into the DNB reporting framework.

- Quarterly reporting preparation
Plan the key steps for funds assigned a quarterly MESRAP profile, including IFSB.

- Data readiness
Identify the data you need from the approved NAV file, investor register, subscription and redemption records, bank statements and fund administration.

- Mijn DNB access and chain authorisation
Check whether eHerkenning and any required chain authorisation for the fund administrator are in place.

- Submission and evidence file
Prepare the review, validation, filing and evidence steps needed before the status is shown as Voldaan.

In practice, AIFMD-light managers are often assigned the IFSB profile, although the DNB letter and the obligation in Mijn DNB remain leading. IFSB is a quarterly MESRAP profile for smaller investment funds. It generally requires reporting on issued participations and balance sheet total.

MESRAP does not have to be a heavy reporting exercise. But if the obligation is only discovered close to the deadline, it can quickly become unnecessarily complex. The KRIF MESRAP checklist helps you avoid last-minute issues by making clear what needs to be checked, collected, reviewed and filed.
